It shows a timber jill of the type originally horse-drawn but here with a shortened draught pole and fitted with a tractor hitch. Written at the bottom in pencil by the artist are the words ‘Cornish Devil (or Timber-Devil) at East Taphouse nr Liskeard.’ The drawing was purchased from the artist's sister.
