    Clogs with leather uppers. These clogs date from c.1900. They were worn by the donor's grandfather in London.
    This is a pair of clogs with leather uppers. The wooden soles have leather on them and there are metal heel protectors fixed on the heels. These clogs date from c.1900. They were worn by the donor's grandfather in London.

    7. Buckled clogs. Dating from c.1900, they were worn by a London stoker. Once on the foot they were first laced up, the laces covered by leather straps fastened by buckles. The sole has leather fixed to it with irons protecting the heel. 92/77/1-2.
  • Archival history
    MERL miscellaneous note –Georgia Charitou- 16 October 2014- These clogs were worn by Mrs. Riches' grandfather, John Henry Wilkinson of Plaistow, London. According to the file he seems to have been a stoker and ex-R.N. Commander.
