    A plunger made of aluminium used to stir the milk in the churn. It was used together with with the dipper to take milk samples for testing.
    This is a plunger made of aluminium. It has a perforated plate at the end of a long rod which has an oval handle at the end. The plunger was used to stir the milk in the churn. It was used together with with the dipper to take milk samples for testing.

    MERL Miscellaneous note-Georgia Charitou-10 November 2014- Sample Testers had a mobile laboratory and tested farm milk for butter fat, other solids, and keeping quality for the Milk Marketing Board quality payments scheme at dairies that had no laboratory facilities of their own. The equipment was from the Milk Marketing Board which operated from the Southern Regional Office of the MMB, 39 Christchurch Road, Reading. Mr. Banks worked from the office at Christchurch Road from 1961 onwards.
