    This flat iron was used on a Middlesex farm by the donors' family for ironing domestic laundry. It bears the inscription, '5 // LYNG // W C' which is a series name of the manufacturer, William Cross & Sons Ltd. of Wolverhampton. It was donated to MERL when the donors moved from Reading to Kent in 1983.
