    This is a long, steel hay tester which consists of three parts which screw together to form a long, narrow implement. It is pointed and hooked at one end and has a ring handle at the other. It dates from the early 20th century. It was used by Walter Parsons & Son, corn merchants in Reading, Berkshire. Hay was a major part of their trade.
