    This is a pair of garden shears with steel blades and handle made of ash. The blades are notched for cutting through thicker growth. They were used by gardener of Rev. Bernard Body, one time curate at Wokingham, Berkshire, who owned half of Eldon Square in Reading.

The blades are notched for cutting through thicker growth // Associated information: The donor inherited these shears from her great uncle Rev Bernard Body, one time curate at Wokingham, who owned half of Eldon Square, havinga garden on site now occupied by the Commercial Union Building. They were used by the curate's gardener, probably around 1860-1870 (the donor herself looked about 65-70)- she found the shears too heavy to use.'
