A flat graining brush, used for making a wood grain and knot effect on painted wood. It has badger hair bristles, arranged in groups, set into a metal case with a wooden insert. The brush belonged to the donor's uncle, John Hillier, who was a master painter and decorator in Reading in the 1930s.
