    This is a rectangular work basket with a hinged lid and a handle on each side. The exterior is decorated with straw plait and the interior is lined with padded red silk. It dates from approximately 1860.

    The Ann Mary Pilcher Collection of Victorian Baskets (67/60-94) was collected by Ann Mary Pilcher in 1957-1967, mostly from junk shops and stalls.
