This is a watercolour drawn and painted by James Arnold in 1965. The watercolour features a Hereford wagon owned by Henry Plant. The wagon has a yellow body with red wheels and shafts.

1 painting: paper (mounted and glazed); good conditionMr. Plants wagon: Built in the Leintwardine area, for Harry Plant of Walford nearby. Later sold to Merrryhill Farm, near Hereford. Has a pronounced forerise, with Clun influence shown in the 'tuning fork' shape of standard and the 'shelf' over the head. the wheels cantered 12.5 %, run on wooden arms and are sold with double straking, 6" tread. The spokes of the hind wheels are cleated both sides for chain wear. Most Herefords have these cleats on the 'forward' side only. The The faded colours are ochrous-buff and very pale salmon. There is no lining-out, though chamfering though not elaborate, is well done, more than mere 'beselling' - as in Kent. I photographed this wagon in Merryhill in 1965 but when I returned early this year, it had been turned upside down, as junk! So much for the present 'owners'.
