    This is a model of a cultivator, which is a farm implement used for disrupting the topsoil ready for seeding. This model was donated by the Agricultural Machinery Department at the University of Reading.

    MERL ‘History Artefacts’ form - ‘Description: Wheels: painted red; blade rims. Frame: painted blue. Tines: painted silver. Rectangular Framework. Two bars of tines suspended either side of, and parallel to, main axle. Front set of times- 16, back set- 15. Tines can be raised or lowered by system of cranks working off a cog and axel on the left hand wheel.’
