Description
This lathe tool has a curved blade and a skittle shaped handle. It was probably made by John Sorby & Sons, an edge tool manufacturer in Sheffield. It was used at R. Middleton & Sons' wheelwrights shop in Eddington, Hungerford.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This lathe tool was used in the Middletons’ wheelwrights’ shop at Hungerford (Berks). The blade is curved at the top and the words –. H. SORBY CAST STEEL are imprinted near the handle. The handle has been turned and is rather skittle shaped. The blade measures .8 inch across and 6.5 inches in length.
