Aberdeen fish landing basket,

This ‘Aberdeen fish landing’ basket, also known as an ‘oval crannage’, was made by Stanley Bird, a basketmaker from Great Yarmouth, for the museum. It is an oval basket made of cane with two wooden battens on the base and two roped handles on the border. These baskets were used by fishermen for landing fish, as well as having other general uses. The South Shields variant of this basket has four handles.
