Dressing machines are used in grain processing, and use sieves to separate grain into two grades. This dressing machine was manufactured by Robert Boby Limited of Bury Saint Edmunds. It is No. 26271 of the No.1 I.R.N.S. dressing machine range, manufactured in August 1918.

Cuming, 24 May 1960 - 'We thank you for your letter dated the 22nd instant, and from our records it would appear that machine No. 26271 is one of our No. 1 I.R.N.S. dressing machines which was manufactured in August 1918. // We enclose leaflet showing this machine, but regret we have no idea of the original cost or the second-hand value, owing to its age. We have also discontinued manufactured of this particular model.'
