  • Description
    This is a pole shave, or rounder plane, used to round, shave or smooth out poles such as rake handles and wheel spokes. It has a wooden stock with straight handles, inscribed 'W. Field' and 'Field', and a steel blade inscribed '...Sorby // Warranted // Cast Steel'. The shave belonged to Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
