    This mortising chisel, used for cutting mortices to create joints in wood, especially to lever out waste from deep mortices, has a wooden handle and a steel shank. It belonged to Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
