    Car lamp made by Joseph Lucas Ltd., Birmingham c.1920. Acquired from the Shelley Rolls estate, possibly from C.S. Rolls's car.
    This is a car lamp, manufactured by Joseph Lucas Ltd., of Birmingham c.1920. It was acquired by the donor from the Shelley Rolls estate, and was said to have been removed from the car of C.S. Rolls, of 'Rolls Royce' fame, although Royce died in 1910, before this lamp was thought to have been made.

Any other information // similar to no18 - but acquired from Shelley Rolls estate + stated to have been removed from Hon C.S. Rolls' own car - of Rolls Royce fame.', MERL Provisional Group Card – 'Lamp // ... Period // c.1920 // ... This is an oil car lamp, made by Lucas of Birmingham, no. 634. It is said that this lamp was removed from the Hon. C. S. Rolls own motor car - of Rolls Royce fame. it was slightly damaged, but it is in working order.', Letter, A. J. Burkart to J. W. Y. Higgs, 22 August 1957 - 'Thank you for your letter of 15th August. I now return the specifications of the lamps I referred to. // Nearly all are in full working order and those that are not, need only minor repair. No. 6 and no 21 are the artistic gems of the collection, though not necessarily the most interesting. // References to Falk are to a Falk, Stadelmann catelogue I was fortunate to acquire which is virtually a catalogue raisonne of lamps for domestic and non-industrial use. References to Robins are to F. W. Robins, "Story of the Lamp" (O.U.P.) 1937...'
