    A hanger used to suspend cooking utensils at varying heights over an open hearth.
    This wrought iron hanger was used to suspend cooking utensils at varying heights over an open hearth. There is a large hook at one end from which it would be hung, and three hooks at the other from which the cooking utensils would be hung. Nothing is known of its origin.

    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'The hanger was used to suspend cooking utensils at varying heights over an open hearth. It usually consisted of an upright with a hook at either end and a varying number of hooks welded onto the upright. // This hanger has an upright 17.5 inches long and .6 inches wide. There is a large hook at one end by which it hung from the chimney bar and three smaller ones at the other, from which the cooking utensil would hang.
