    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This hanger is 3 feet 3.5 inches long and made from iron. The first 1 foot 9 inches from the point being straight, the bar is bent into an S bend from that point.', MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 51/873 – 'These hangers were usually made from a single tubular bar of iron with a point at one end and an S hook at the other. The bar was curved in such a way that when the point was driven into the ground, a cooking utensil could be hung centrally over the fire from the final curve of the hook.', Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum.
