This broad-wheeled, deep-bodied Monmouthshire box wagon is thought to have been made in 1878. It was built for the donor's father, who farmed at Town Street Farm, Tirley, Gloucestershire. It was in constant use at the farm, and was last used in the harvest of 1955. The body is painted yellow and the wheels are painted red.

He has a wagon in good condition which was made for his father about 1878 when he first took over the farm. This wagon has five-inch wheels originally fitted over strakes but I am not sure that tyres have not been fitted at a later date. It was in used this harvest. // Mr. Fowler actually has five wagons on his farm and is willing to present any one of them to the museum...'
