    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'The origin of this frying pan is unknown. It was made to hang from a pot-hook over the open fire. It consists of a large, solid iron pan, 13.5 inches in diameter, 2.5 inches in height, with a lip on one side of the pan for pouring out the contents. It has a half hoop handle bolted to the sides of the pan, surmounted by a swivel ring by which it could be hung up. The pan is 13 inches in height to the top of the handle.', Lavinia Smith No. 199., Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum.
