This tail comb, for brushing a horse's tail, has four iron teeth which are barbed on one side. Found on a farm near Stapleford, Leicestershire.
This tail comb, for brushing a horse's tail, has four iron teeth which are barbed on one side. The distance between the teeth was adjusted by the small iron collar which orginially moved up and down; however it is now fixed. The donor found it on a neighbour's farm near Stapleford, Leicestershire.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This tail comb is 7 inches long and the wooden handle is 4 1/2 inches wide. The comb has four iron teeth each 4 1/4 inches long. The ends of these teeth are barbed on one side only. A small iron collar was originally adjustable and used to regulate the distance between the teeth, but it is now fixed. Mr. Sanderson picked up the comb on a neighbour’s farm and handed it in to the Museum stand at the Royal Agricultural show in Nottingham in 1955.'
