  • Archival history
MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This chopper is a domestic utensil of an unusual and ingenious design. It consists of a metal blade 12 inches long with a straight blunt upper edge and a curved sharp lower edge. Two wooden handles each 4 inches long are hinged one at each end of the blade so that they may be bent right back to lie along the top of the blade. This type of hinge makes it possible to use the chopper with a rocking action when one handle is grasped in each hand.'
