This horse's bit consists of two short metal bars with a spiral twist linked together, with a metal ring slotted through loops at each end and another set of metal rings encircling the ends of the bar. The bit is either solid nickel or nickel-plated. The Museum bought the bit at Reading Cattle Market for 1 shilling.

The bit is marked “Solid Nickel” but may be nickel plated.
