    A washing dolly is a laundry implement used for plunging clothes in a tub of hot water. This dolly consists of four legs, carved from a single block of wood, and a long T-shaped handle. Nothing is known about where Lavinia Smith acquired it.

    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This dolly is made of wood and stands 38 inches high. The top bar for the hands measures 13 inches across and the long handle is eight sided. The four legs are crudely carved from one block of wood, which has a circular hole in the centre through which the dolly handle passes.', Lavinia Smith No. 352., Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum.
