Pewter plate warmer. It would be filled with hot water via the small opening with a screw top.
This is a pewter plate warmer. It would be filled with hot water via the small opening with a screw top and placed on the table to keep plates and dishes hot. It has two handles and the top is slightly hollowed so that dishes would not easily slip off the warmer. Nothing is known about the origins of this dish warmer.
