It was used by the donor's father... of... Braishfield, Hampshire, a wheelwright and general carpenter. It consists of a vertical wooden arm 7.75 inches long and 2.0 inches wide. The inner side is lined with brass, and this was placed against a fixed margin to obtain a right angle. The other, thin metal arm, 14 inches long and 2.6 inches deep, is fixed to the other by four rivets enclosed by four brass diamonds.'
