  • Description
This is thought to be a potato set scoop, a tool used when potatoes were very scarce to extract the eye (or 'set') which was afterwards planted. It is also possible that this tool was used in the kitchen for removing the eyes in potatoes before cooking. This type of scoop is called a 'Hollow Semiglobe'. It has an ebony handle, and the socket is bound with a brass ring. The scoop is made of steel.
