This sack was used in the water mill in Writtle, Essex, for holding grain or flour. Both sides of the sack are printed with 'H. SOUTHGATE // ON HIRE // WRITTLE MILLS'. It is a relatively large sack, measuring 49 inches by 25 inches in size.
