  • Archival history
MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'Crimping machines were probably introduced later than goffering irons, but fulfilled the same function, though the frills and flounces were smaller. The material was crimped between two grooved rollers which are mounted on an iron stand. The pressure of the rollers may be altered by means of two screws and they are turned by a handle at the side. // The rollers of this machine are made of brass and are mounted in an iron stand. The handle is made of bone and the machine stands on a rectangular block of wood. It is of good design. // The machine is 8.5 inches in height and 14 inches in length.', MERL list / description [Massingham Collection, October 1989] – 'ACC.
