    This oven peel was used in a small bakery at Little Sutton, Wirral, up to 1939, and it is thought to date from the late 19th century. It was used for inserting and withdrawing loaves from a deep brick oven. It takes the form of a flat shovel made of iron, fitted to a long wooden handle. Also known as a baker's peel.
