  • Description
Cheese mould known as a cheese vat or chesset. It has 5 shallow circular grooves in the base which would leave an impression on the cheese.
This cheese mould is also known as a 'cheese vat' or 'chesset'. It is made from turned wood (probably alder, but possibly birch) and has three 'weep holes'. It also has five shallow circular grooves in the bottom, which would leave an impression on the bottom of the cheese. The museum holds little information about its origins.
