Lapel pin badge with the World's Poultry Science Association logo: a cockerel on top of the world and the text ?UK 50 WPSA?. Possibly made to commemorate 50 years of the UK branch of the World Poultry Science Association in 1996. Collected by Christopher Mann during attendance at poultry conferences, through his work for Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and editor of World?s Poultry Science Journal.

Archival history
MERL Miscellaneous note - The late Mr Christopher Michael Hann OBE, graduated from Reading University in the mid-1940s. By the 1960s he was genetic advisor on the staff of the UK Government Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food (which became the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs – DEFRA in 2001). He became Senior Pigs and Poultry Advisor to the MAFF until retirement in 1989. He was awarded the OBE for his role at MAFF in 1989. He was editor of 'World’s Poultry Science Journal' from 1986 to 1998. Awarded the Macdougall Medal by the World’s Poultry Science Association during the closing ceremony of the XXI World’s Poultry Congress in Montreal in 2000. When he retired he continued to edit the 'World’s Poultry Science Journal'.
