This is a milking machine cluster that was used at Hall Farm, Arborfield, the location of the University of Reading's Centre for Dairying Research (CEDAR). The cluster consists of four teat cups with tubes attached to a central hub. It was acquired in response to an approach made by a member of Museum curatorial staff to an Animal Sciences specialist and to the Professor of Animal and Dairy Science at the University of Reading. The request was linked to development of a an exhibition about milk under development by staff at Wellcome Collection, and to particular items they were keen to display as part of their show.
