    A skein of twisted rope made from 'reed'. It was made by Derek Miller of Winkleigh, Devon. Purchased from the maker, and given to the donor. This type of rope was used for holding thatch on to hay ricks with hazel spars.

A measure stick for the Quarter can, used in various ways for all 14 measures. Made by Colin Manthorpe in 1994, and given to me when I visited as part of my QEST Scholarship studying East Anglian baskets. // 2. A skein of twisted straw rope, with full provenance on the enclosed text, given me by Sarah Lawrence, Lewes, and bought by her in Devon.’
