12 bore double barrelled percussion cap shotgun, owned by Arthur Bray, thatcher and race horse trainer from Northolt. The gun has been deactivated - it was inspected and marked by the London Proof House in 1989. The barrel ends have been capped and welding prevents ammunition from being loaded. The barrels have been damascened and the butt has a carved decoration. The proof marks on the barrels suggest Birmingham manufacture, around 1875-1887.

Owned by Mr. Arthur William Bray, 23.2.1893 to 26.3.1966. Was a Thatcher by trade and used to travel to farms using his horse and caravan, he also trained Racehorses for Northolt Race course. He lived on a small holding of seven acres called Hayward, near The White Hart, Yeading Lane, Northolt, in a Bungalow he built for him and his wife Matilda. Was grandfather of the Donator [...].', Museum Object Entry Form - 'Description of Object/Collection: 1 shotgun, owned by Arthur William Bray, grandfather of the donor. Deactivated in 1989.
