  • Label Text
Throughout the 20th century, UK woodland became an unlikely workplace for young women. [...] During World War II, the Forestry Commission began recruiting teams from the Women's Land Army (WLA) to form the Women's Timber Corps aka 'Lumber Jills'. These badges are from the Catherine Procter Collection, preserving her mother's WLA memorabilia. The Bakelite pine tree badge marked with WLA would have been pinned to the green beret as part of the Lumber Jill uniform. // Women's Land Army Bakelite pine tree badge. 2022/64
