  • Description
This crease belonged to a saddler in Alton, Hampshire. A crease is a tool used to make a line in leather. This can be either decorative, practical, or both. A screw crease is an adjustable double crease - the screw is used to adjust the distances between the two crease blades, and hence between the two lines made in the leather. This screw crease has a leather covering on the lower part of the blade between the screw and the handle.
