This bit for a horse consists of a metal bar with a spiral twist in the metal, with projections at the sides from which 'S'-shaped hooks are linked. It is marked 'Solid Nickel', although it may in fact be just nickel-plated. It was used on the farm at Great Cornard, Suffolk.
