  • Description
This is a bevel, a woodworking tool consisting of a hinged arm for measuring angles. It consists of a thick wooden arm, with a thin steel arm hinged in the middle. The steel arm does not slide, but rather moves stiffly on a rivet, enabling the angle to be changed. It was used by the donor's father, who was a wheelwright and carpenter in Braishfield, Hampshire, and it has been stamped 'H.J.BOWN' in two places on the steel arm.
