  • Description
Charbens Number 116 Farm Set Panorama Series in red and yellow lidded window box. This set is not original and has been made up from various other sets. This is obvious from the discrepancy in animal sizes and duplications. A black and white copy from a catalogue is included in the box showing what ought to be included. This box includes: a horse and cart, brown horse with red cart and yellow spoked wheels, a black and white windmill with green sails, a farmhand with a hoe wearing red trousers and a yellow shirt, two bulls (one black and one reddish brown), three cows (one very small black one), two calfs, four pigs, one small brown sheep, nine horses/foals in various sizes, five dogs (three brown, two white including one very small one), two sets of chickens and chicks, one set of ducks, three rabbits, a tree and two small blue fence sections. Apart from this is a green card with fixed to this a poultry scene. This consists of a female figurine in a red dress with white apron, holding a feeding basket, two sets of two ducks and two ducklings, three single ducks and two single chickens, finally one section of fencing. All items are plastic. By Charbens from a large collection of British manufactured toy farm vehicles and implements. During the World Wars, food rationing within Britain encouraged families to 'grow their own'. Toys like logging machinery, tractors and ploughs were created for children to promote outdoor activities. // Interest in outdoor education has waxed and waned. In the 1950s-70s, books and toys encouraged children born during the 'baby-boom' (the period after World War II) to get outdoors and help 'regrow the country'. // Since the COVID-19 pandemic there has been a rise in toys and books promoting outdoor learning. // Toy Model, 2020/8/11/1-23.
