Description
This barking iron is a tool used to strip bark from wood. Its origins are not known, from the Curtis Museum, in Alton.
This barking iron, a tool used to strip bark from wood, consists of an iron head, flat on one side and curved on the other and half-oval in shape. This is welded to an iron neck which becomes hollow to take a wooden handle (which in this case is missing). Its origins are not known, other than that it was previously part of the collections at the Curtis Museum, in Alton.
