Large white canvas banner displaying the name 'MUSEUM OF ENGLISH RURAL LIFE' in red block lettering. The banner has a stitched and hemmed border featuring eyelets designed to suspend the banner using hooks or cord. This banner was used by Museum staff during the 1950s. It was taken to agricultural shows and events and displayed at the front of the Museum's trade stand, stall, or tent. The Museum constructed large-scale exhibitions or displays at these events, often including material from the Museum's object collection. These events were opportunities to raise the profile of the Museum and to encourage donations of money and artefacts in support of its broader scheme of collecting, recording and displaying English rural life.
