  • Description
    These closed mouth tongs or FLAT BILL from the smithy at Lower Beeding, Sussex, were used for holding thin metal, which was worked upon. The jaws consist of two rectangular pieces of metal which fit very close together when the tongs are closed. The jaws are hollowed out as in the case of the ordinary Rivet tongs.
