    This is a cheese stand made of a thick piece of elm. It is circular in shape with a thick rim. It ws for family use in a farmhouse, where a large cheese would be cut in half and placed in the centre of the table on a stand such as this one.

Cheese was used lavishly, particularly on occasions such as outings, choir suppers, meets, etc., // This stand is made of a strong, thick piece of elm with a thick rim, and a slight hollow in the middle of the bottom. The diameter is 17.5 inches, and it stands 2.6 inches high.
