    Straw rope twister last used between 1939 and 1943 at Westbrook Farm, Diss, Norfolk, to make straw rope for use in subsoil drainage systems.
    This straw rope twister was last used between 1939 and 1943 at Westbrook Farm, Diss, in Norfolk, to make straw rope for use in subsoil drainage systems. The ropes were laid on the top of drainage tiles before the trench was filled in. It also made straw rope for binding hay for transport, and for thatching.
