A Singer sewing machine model 99K, dating from 1936. Belonged to Marjorie Ellen Bunting, who was born in 1919.
This is a Singer sewing machine model 99K with serial number EA837251, dating from 1936. The machine has a separate power cord and faux skin covered wooden case with handle and detachable lid. It is controled using a handle operated with the leg. The machine is part of a donation which also included a number of accessories (2011/72 and 2011/73), including bobbins, needles and spare machine parts, all of which belonged to the donor's mother, Marjorie Ellen Bunting, who was born in 1919 and received the machine for her 21st birthday. She used the sewing machine and accessories in her work as a seamstress in a very small hosiery factory in Bulwell, Nottingham. Her husband was a miner.
