    This is a tubular candlestick, made of sheet iron, with a slide for adjusting the height of the candle. It dates from the nineteenth century.

    MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This candlestick is made of sheet iron and is tubular. There is a slide in the side of the stem by which the candle may be raised as it burns down. The stem is joined to the base by a nut and screw. The candlestick stands 8.5 inches high.', Victoria & Albert Museum No. M387, 1917.
