A pocket candle holder. The case currently holds a tallow candle. Lavinia Smith acquired it from George Collett, of Murcott, Oxfordshire.
This is a small pocket candle holder. It consists of a cylindrical brass case which is hinged so that it can be opened and stood upright, and a fitment to hold the candle. The case currently holds a tallow candle. Lavinia Smith acquired it from the wife of George Collett, of Murcott, Oxfordshire.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is a small pocket candle holder. It consists of a cylindrical brass case and fitment to hold the candle. The case is hinged so that it could be opened and stood on a flat surface. The case contains a small tallow candle. // Miss Smith obtained the candle holder from Mrs. G. Collett of Murcot [sic] (Oxon.). // It measures 2.5 inches in height.'
