Hydrometers are instruments for measuring the specific gravity of liquds at a specific temperature. They can also be called 'lactometers', which are hydrometers used specifically for milk. This hydrometer is part of a collection acquired from the University of Reading's Department of Food Science Processing Laboratories. This hydrometer is marked as a lactometer, and has a large glass bulb painted black at the ends, and weighted. It has a scale from 25-35 in units of two.
