This is a hardback first edition of 'Cider with Rosie', written by Laurie Lee (1914–1997) and published by The Hogarth Press in 1959. It has drawings by John Ward. ‘Cider with Rosie’ is the first of an autobiographic trilogy and recounts the author’s childhood in the village of Slad, Gloucestershire, in the period after World War I and the disappearance of traditional village life. This object was deaccessioned and reaccessioned into the University of Reading Library. Please note that this object no longer forms part of the Museum of English Rural Life collection and cannot be accessed at our institution.
